Make your own way to the Seilpark high ropes park in southwest Interlaken at a time suited to you. Located just a 15-minute walk from Interlaken West train station, the park boasts nine courses and more than 100 different challenges of varying difficultly, making it perfect for all thrill seekers, whether you’re a first timer or a seasoned veteran.

On arrival at the park’s base camp, meet a professional guide and get fitted into your gear. Then, receive a full safety briefing, which includes details of how to make your own way around the park, before testing your skills on a training course.

When your training is over, set off into the forest and head up to your first platform. You can choose to begin with the simpler challenges or start right away on the more difficult courses. If you’re visiting with kids, the courses vary depending on their height, with one course suitable for the smallest (3ft 3in or 1m tall) and four courses for slightly taller children (3ft 11in or 1.2m tall). Anyone taller than 4ft 7in (1.4m) can challenge themselves to all nine courses.

How long you spend in the park is up to you, but many people find three hours to be sufficient. Alternatively, if you want to enjoy a full day in the Swiss outdoors, take frequent rest breaks between courses — you may even want to have a barbecue or picnic (own expense).
